There is so much to celebrate in Nicaragua...
Welcome back to this Tapestry blog featuring “Women of Courage and Commitment” in this world. It’s been awhile since my last post when we went on a photographic journey to Tanzania.
In the meantime, some events have happened in Nicaragua that the world needs to know about. Two powerful hurricanes have hit the country which have caused dramatic devastation and destruction to many parts of the country. Join me as we return to Nicaragua to re-visit Selva Negra Coffee Farm and find out from Mausi Kühl the details through photographs what has happened to her and to her family and to the many people who live and work on the farm.
In order to set the backdrop for the continuation of this story we’ll send you back to the post about Mausi and her farm in August of this year:

Adding to the story of Mausi and Selva Negra, we want you to see even more beautiful photos of this magical place in Nicaragua taken by the professional photographer and documentary film maker, Gregory Ross.
We learned from Mausi that they had no loss of life on the farm but they did have tremendous loss of crops. The coffee production for this year has been seriously, if not completely destroyed. They have lost land on the farm through landslides and mudslides. Most of the roads leading into the farm have been blocked with mudslides and fallen trees. Many buildings have been leveled from the strong winds and driving rain for days.
Mausi has shared the following photos to show the destruction of these hurricanes.
We, at InnerCHANGE WORKS, have worked with Mausi and those who live and work on Selva Negra for many years. There is a way we can help with the recovery of this bio-sustainable organic farm in Nicaragua.
For six generations the Kühl family has been farming coffee. Today, the tradition continues as mother and daughter collaborate to both grow coffee at the family farm, Selva Negra, in Nicaragua, and roast it locally through JavaVino in Atlanta here in the US.
We want to give back to Selva Negra, help them re-build from the devastation, and by purchasing their incredible coffee from Mausi’s daughter, Heddy through her amazing company here in the US, JavaVino, you can give back and participate.
